I wrote and photographed this one for CITY Magazine about our collective obsession with chefs, and what’s actually underneath all the swagger and mythology. I got to choose the chefs and then photograph each of them through that lens, looking for the quieter stuff: instinct, obsession, pleasure, restraint, care. It was one of those rare projects where the writing and photography were really one thing, and easily one of my favorites I’ve worked on.
